The Habit Loop
The habit loop consists of three key components:
Cue: This is the trigger that signals your brain to initiate a behavior. It could be a time of day, an emotion, or something in your environment.
Routine: This is the actual behavior or action you take in response to the cue. It can be something like grabbing a snack, checking your phone, or going for a run.
Reward: The benefit you get from completing the routine, which reinforces the behavior and makes you more likely to repeat it. This could be a feeling of satisfaction, pleasure, or relief.
By understanding and tweaking this loop, you can break old habits or create new ones that better serve your goals.
 
Neuroplasticity is the brain's ability to reorganize and form new neural connections throughout life. It allows us to adapt, learn new skills, change behaviors, and recover from injuries by strengthening or weakening the pathways in our brain based on our experiences and habits.
 
Installing A New Habit with NLP:
Here are the steps for installing a new habit using Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques:
1. Identify the Desired Habit
Clearly define the new habit you want to install. Be specific about what the behavior looks like and when you want to practice it.
2. Visualize the Desired Habit
Imagine yourself successfully performing the new habit in the future. Engage all your senses—see, hear, and feel yourself doing it with ease and confidence.
3. Anchor a Resourceful State
Think of a time when you felt highly motivated, confident, or resourceful. Anchor this feeling by associating it with a physical gesture (e.g., touching your thumb and index finger together). This will serve as a tool to activate the state when needed.
4. Associate the Habit with a Trigger
Choose a specific trigger or cue that will remind you to perform the new habit. This could be a time of day, a location, or another daily action (e.g., after brushing your teeth, you meditate for 5 minutes).
5. Future Pace the Habit
Mentally rehearse yourself performing the habit in future situations. Imagine potential obstacles and how you’ll overcome them with ease, reinforcing the belief that you can stick with the new habit.
6. Reinforce with Repetition
Practice your new habit regularly and activate the resourceful state anchor if you encounter any resistance. Each time you perform the new habit, you strengthen the neural pathway in your brain, making it easier over time.
7. Celebrate Small Wins
Acknowledge and reward yourself for any progress, no matter how small. This positive reinforcement encourages consistency and boosts motivation.
8. Review and Adjust
Periodically assess your progress. If necessary, adjust your approach to ensure the new habit sticks and becomes second nature. Use your NLP anchors to keep yourself motivated and resourceful throughout the process.
These steps help in reprogramming your mind to make the new habit feel automatic and aligned with your goals.

Use the below questions to gain clarity on the goal you are wanting to set into action and ensure you have the right goal type that aligns with you. 
1. What do you want? (Stated in the positive and within your control)
2. What will you see/hear/feel when you have it?
3. What will having this do for you? (Why is it important?)
4. Where, when and with whom do you want this?
5. How will this affect other aspects of your life and the world around you? (Ecology check)
6. What is stopping you? (Barriers)
7. What resources do you have already?
8. What resources do you need? 
9. What are your first small steps?

Journal Entry From the Future + Planning & Navigation Steps:
1. Grab a piece of paper and imagine you are in the future about to write in your journal for that day. On this day, you have met your goal and you are ready to write all about how you feel in this moment. Write about who is with you, where you are at, what you see, smell, hear and what that day has in store for you. Don't focus on telling the story of how you met the goal and got to this point. Only focus on the "being" moment. The way you feel after completely the goal. 
2. Select a moment out of your journal entry from the future and draw it, paint it or collage it. This is the moment that is a snap shot of you knowing you accomplished your goal. Include yourself in the drawing, what you see, hear, smell and who you are with. Identify the feeling of the moment and located in or around your body. Make sure to illustrate this feeling in your drawing to really enhance the magic. You don't need to be artist for the richness to work. 
3. Planning & Navigation: Take a piece of paper and draw a diagonal line from the top right corner to the bottom left corner. At the top right corner, draw a mini picture of the moment you just illustrated in the step before. Feel free to jot down any notes you like about this moment for your planning. From there go half way down the line and make another milestone. This is your half way mark to meeting your goal. Write down or draw what is happening during that time frame on your journey toward your larger goal. Now, split the time in half again, what half way to your half way point. Draw it and make notes on the line. Keep doing this process until you are at TODAY. What do you need to do today to meet your goal. Write it down or draw it. Now you have a plan to follow toward your goal at the top right corner. Feel free to get as granular and task oriented as you want during this process and remember, the end result is about the feeling you are having when you reach your goal.
